Recommendations for traversing glaciers and permanent snowfields
The particular weather conditions characterizing the current summer season, with high temperatures even at higher elevations, are causing a rapid evolution in the conditions of the glaciers and permanent snowfields found along some high-mountain routes, particularly in the Brenta.
The main critical areas currently identified concern the Vedretta dei Camosci and the Vedretta d’Ambiez, along the following trails:
- O327 – “Daniele Martinazzi” Alpine Via Ferrata;
- O304 – “Cesare Salvaterra-Cege” Ideal Alpine Via Ferrata;
- O358 – “Livio Brentari” Alpine Via Ferrata.
Given the rapidly changing conditions, visitors are advised, whenever possible, to check the latest information on the routes before setting out and to assess on site whether it is appropriate to continue if the conditions encountered differ from those expected or are not compatible with their level of experience and the equipment available.
